My Madina Lake Experience

This is my story about my Madina Lake/Anberlin concert. I guess it just started out we were waiting in line and me and Katy were really cold so we decided to go to the car really quick to warm up and while my mom held our spot. We were sitting in the car and Stephen from Anberlin walked by and I recognized him so we hopped out of the car as he was going in to the family dollar. We thought he was talking to himself but really he had a Bluetooth and was talking to his love haha. We walked up to him and I asked if I could get his signature and he said “hang on.” We thought he said hang on to us when he actually said it on the phone. So I got a picture and an autograph from him. Later, we saw Mateo like 5 times and I was too scared to talk to him for some reason. Probably because he looked like he didn’t want to be noticed. Finally later I went up and talked to him. Me and Katy kidded that it was because Stephen made me more open to talk to famous people. We got his signature but didn’t have enough time for a picture cause he needed to go in the van. When we got inside it was still freezing. Mury and Between the Trees played before we got to see Madina Lake. But when they came on it was really cool. Nate took off his shoes like he always does. Matt got his bass so close to me that I thought he was going to hit me in the head. They had so much energy. The set list was stuck down where I would be able to reach so during the middle of their last song I grabbed it because they obviously already knew what they were going to sing for the last one. After ML, I was so squished that I just wanted to get out and I didn’t want my set list to get hurt so we tried to squish between the crowd but there was no way so we had to get up on to the stage and go threw the back. They wanted us to go out the back door so we asked “if we do that will they let us back in through the front” and they said “if you have a pass” but then a random guy said we could go to the side and go back to the merch booth so I love that random man haha. As we were walking back we saw matt and nate and asked if they were coming out to meet us and matt said of course. So we went back and waited at the ML merch booth. Mateo came out but nobody else so we bought some merch and hung out with Mury. Jay was the guitar player of Mury I think and we hung out with his best friend who was really drunk. He was so beyond hilarious. I don’t remember his name but I remember he was really repetitive and asked me like 3 times if I’d seen Anberlin before while they were playing. Katy put random pieces of tape on his sweater so I wonder if he remembers how he got them. He went up and watched Anberlin so during a slow song we decided to go up to him and sway back and forth. It was pretty funny. He told me to call him as if that was going to happen haha. Then when Anberlin was done playing a big black guy came and told everyone that they needed to start leaving if they weren’t buying merch so we pretended to and after a while matt came out pushing a box. He said that the reason they took so long was because their bus got stuck. We started talking to him and the security guy asked us if we could move outside to talk to matt and was being a jerk so matt told him off. Go matt. Me and Katy got separate pictures with him and then asked if we could get pictures of both of us kissing him on cheek. He said that was totally cool so we got a picture of that with my camera and then hers. After talking to him we went outside to find nate. We found him outside and he looked really cold. We got separate pictures again and then asked to make a replica picture of matt’s and he said of course so we got 2 from him also. I had him leave me a message on my answering machine but I did it wrong and set it as an extended absence so I accidentally deleted it the next day. I got a big hug from nate and we talked to him forever. I even asked him about why they cancelled the show in Utah a while ago. He said “hit me with it” whenever we said we needed to ask a question so I thought that was pretty funny. I think that’s all I have to say about it cause if I told the whole story this paper would be much too long. It was an all around great time. J
